So for those of you who not only know me, but have ready any of this blog, you’ll know that this is a no brainer. I saw this movie WELL after the buzz had died and it had been cruelly passed over by the Academy but as soon as I saw it I knew that it would be a staple in my life for always. Not only is this a film making masterpiece, it’s also the only post-apocalyptic movie I’ve seen in the last 10 years that gave me *hope* when I was finished. It was beautiful, haunting and is not to be missed.

This movie belongs on my list for no other reason than it made me realize the power of something as simple, beautiful and haunting as a child crying. As much as it sometimes interferes with our lives, what if we couldn’t hear that noise anymore? Wouldn’t the world be a darker place? We all need to get back to understanding the inherent beauty in the simple, meaningful things in life. That’s what this movie taught me and so, it’s on my list.
