If you live in the Toronto area and want to actually participate in the making of a movie, check out the test screening for Son of the Sunshine, a movie by Ryan Ward. Ryan and I went to Ryerson together and he, Ryan Tilley and Ryan Churchill, collectively known as ‘The Ryans’ and I used to duke it out in class about the finer points of acting and letting the actor do their thing. I fought like a maniac but, after much research, failed attempts and a few years in between, I find myself understanding what they were getting at. In short, Ryan Ward is an excellent actor and I strongly suspect that he will be an equally excellent director. And so, I bring you details after the jump of the test screening for his new movie.
It’s tonight so it’s kind of short notice, but if you can get there do. I can’t go because he needs an impartial look at the movie (ie. people who don’t know him personally) but I bet you CAN! So go on and check it out. It’s important to support your local talent, especially since the National Post says “Audacious first feature…Ward’s performance truly captures my attention” (Chris Knight) It was an official selection at Slamdance as well. The film is in its final stages of post-production and we’d love to hear what you think before we finalize the film. It would be very helpful to the team if you could join us for a screening and give us your feedback. A questionnaire will be provided.
