My Happy Place

When I was 11 I saw Terminator 2 and it blew my little mind. I’d seen Terminator previously (I had a cool aunt-type lady who used to have me over and we’d watch horror/action and all kinds of other stuff 11 year olds shouldn’t watch). From the moment it started I was hooked. Even though I maintain to this.day. that it has the most perfect ending to any franchise movie in the history of movie making, I still felt unsatisfied. So what’s an 11 year old who didn’t like the way a movie ended to do? Why write her own, of course! I’d read Lew Hunter’s Screenwriting 434 and I figured I was set. So me and my friend Shelley took an entire summer and wrote the damn thing. And it was pretty good, if I do say so myself. I even have the copy of it that I mailed to myself to ‘copyright’ it (yes, it’s unopened… you think I’m going to READ that!?!?). The point here is not that I’m a loser. The point here is that I used to live, eat, sleep and breathe Terminator. I liked the first one. Loved the second one. Didn’t hate the third one and when I saw this trailer today I nearly lost my sh*t.

It’s everything I hoped it could be. I’m not only completely sold, but at this point I could see nothing more than that trailer and still be completely happy with the Terminator franchise for the rest of my life. Say what you will about his temper, Chrisitan Bale is the perfect John Connor. He’s just as sick and twisted as his mother and I LOVE it. Stills from SlashFilm below and the trailer above. Even if I’m a loser, I’m a loser who knows what she likes. And I likes me my Terminator.
