What Did You See This Weekend?

April 27, 2009

in what did you see?

I went to see State of Play (awesome!) and last night I caught the most horrible Casper Van Dien movie on Spike. It was called Mask of the Ninja or some crap. It’s the kind of thing you toss on while you fight with the code for 5 little tiny social bookmarking icons. Casper is never not a riot. Also checked out Adrift in Tokyo but that review will come tomorrow.

What about you? Or did you just save it all for this Friday? (Ahem, X-Men Origins: Wolverine?)

I’m thrilled to hear you enjoyed State of Play! I ended up delving into the land of classics with The Thing from Another World, Sunset Blvd and The Hunchback from Notre Dame. Oh, and Onibaba – which was WILD. Just wild. Overall that was the best set I’ve been through in a while. There is something to be said for classics!

I just bought the BBC drama State of Play – want to see that first before the movie.

We watched Baby Mama, a quite enjoyable comedy from the ever wonderful Tina Fey. Plus we got stuck into the second season of The Wire, which is rather, rather magnificent.

All classics all the time these days, eh Shannon? I love it. I’ll have time to check out the vlog tomorrow at lunch. Looking forward to hearing about them. Never heard of Onibaba. (Sunset Blvd is one of my faves… I even saw the horrible musical when it was here.)

Oooooohhhhh don’t tell me about The Wire. I have all 5 seasons just waiting for a free three weeks (yeah, right!). I liked Baby Mama too, but I thought it was a little…. off. Can’t really say why, but I can see that these two women should be considered the most talented comediennes of our time, with the possible addition of Anna Faris.

Classics ftw! Ironically the selection of classics arrived all together without being planned. I’ve had that happen a few times now, it’s kinda surreal.

Finny and I watched all five seasons over the course of the last couple months. Best. T.V. Ever.

Anyway, I watched State of Play… I think that was it. Wow, I've been busy for the past little bit. Not as much movie watching going on as I'd like there to be.

Huh. Looks an awful lot like I need to be getting back to The Wire. Glad to hear you enjoyed State of Play, although sad that it wasn’t as much as me. Maybe because my expectations were just so damn low?
