They’re Rebooting TMNT Live Action!

I can’t decide if this is good or bad. Well, I mean obviously, it’s bad. These movies were awful, but I loved them *so* much! (Especially the soundtrack for the first one…. ah man I need to get my hands on a digital copy of that somewhere.) That said, I do think that the makeup and digital technology has caught up enough to actually do this some justice. SlashFilm has been reporting on this quite a lot recently, which I think is pretty funny. I’m not sure when Turtles got to be news, but I’m pretty pleased about it. Dood. I painted the four Turtles on the walls of my bedroom when I was 10. I really loved the newest animated movie – like a lot – and was very surprised at the quality of both the flick and the story they pulled together. To be fair, TMNT 2: Secrets of the Ooze wasn’t brilliant and 3 kinda sucked, but we always had 1. So what do we think? Turtles reboot good or bad? Should they or shouldn’t they?

I loved TMNT as a kid, especially Secret Of The Ooze. Does it get any better than the Turtles beating on a giant wolf and snapping turtle while Vanilla Ice sings in the background?

Oh yeah, wait, it does.

The CGI animated TMNT from a few years back is actually not bad, despite a daft plot about reanimated stone statues and ancient evil blah blah blah. The Turtle stuff and the look of it are pretty good.

I’m all for a new take on the material – I’d like to see them go really dark with it.

Interesting. I haven’t read the actual comics (which might be the only time in history I didn’t go back to the source material) but I understand that they ARE really dark and a little bit twisted. I thought that the plot of the animate-y one wasn’t bad considering it was squarely aimed at children, with nary an adult on the demographic horizon. I have great hope… but then, I always have hope.

This is fantastic news.

And to hell with new technology. Dust those old costumes off and serve them up.

And they better have Corey Feldman voicing one of them, or I’m throwing my Sweettarts at the screen.

Piper, you’re awesome. I agree! Let’s throw the Feldman some love!
