Put in Aliens and feel nothing but love for Newt! Ta da. Ok, so here’s what you do. Who giggles and eats with their mouth open, causing us to have to move to the front row?!?! Anyway... I'm rather glad that I didn't hate her as much. She is a big part of the movie and that piece was missing for me for a long time. But here's my question: Will it hold up on future viewings? Or will I go back to the hate at home.... hmmm.... I've spent the majority of my life wishing for some long-lost version of Aliens in which she is quickly disposed of (regardless of how integral she is to the plot - pfft). However, last night I wished her no ill will for the very first time. Maybe it was the big screen, maybe it was that all of my ill will was directed to the idiots behind us, who knows? I completely agree about Newt. I saw it last summer and it was fantastic. Great evening of film...it's amazing how the broody, atmospheric claustrophobia of the first one hinges nicely with the all out shoot-em-up of the second.<br /><br />Sad that they don't show the longer version of Aliens: a much more satisfying (if not arguably bloated) film, IMHO.
