While Hot Docs will certainly dominate the week, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other things going on. (I know! Blasphemy!) The District 9 trailer hit the web last week in addition to a number of others. So far, so good I think.
I like the docu-style of the trailer that assumes that the audience knows exactly what’s going on – as if it’s real. It’s pretty cool. I love the blurred out non-human face (ahem, I believe them to be called Aliens, but I don’t want to be presumptuous). I really hope that they keep this style in the movie. So often the trailer will look all viral-y and then you get to the movie and it’s Michael Bay redux. Apparently Peter Jackson is in on this project, so that gives me a small modicum of hope. I know, again with the hope.
