Last night, moments before crashing off into glorious sleep, I happened to catch about 20 minutes, 25 minutes in, of The Misfits. Even though I had never seen it, I knew it right off due to the Clark Gable/Marilyn Monroe effect.
I had heard that this movie was excellent, but hadn’t gone out of my way to see it. Frankly, that was my loss. I realize that I only saw about 20 minutes, but it was excellent. Not only was it fascinating because of the amazingly good performance by Marilyn Monroe (startlingly different than, say, The 7 Year Itch) but also because of the phenomenon that this was the last movie for both Gable and Monroe.
20 minutes was all it took. I’m hooked and will get myself to a video store and see this at my first opportunity. I love when I accidentally find movies I love.
