On Saturday hundreds of zombies walked from Bathurst and Dundas to Yonge & Dundas Square to honour George Romero and what he’s done for the zombie genre. The zombies stumbled in all gore and guts and when George arrived he was warmly and undead-ly welcomed by Colin Geddes and the horde. Romero was presented with a statuette that honoured his contribution to the genre, as well as his decision to reside in Toronto now that he’s become a citizen.
Despite a bit of a wait for our main-man George, it was an awesome tribute to the man who is generally considered the “grandfather” of the zombie genre. He was, as he always is, astonished at the zeal with which people glean to his movies and the movies he inspired.
Directly afterwards they showed the awesome zombie short Deadspiel, the only zombie curling movie to date.

Great footage, Trista. I only wish I could have been there for that! That day, I was swamped with films so I didn’t get a chance to come out! Glad you enjoyed it.
