10 Movies to See Before You Die

The wait is over. Star Trek is now here. And excellent apparently. We’ll see, we’ll see. Got my tix for the 10:50 show at the AMC Yonge and Dundas. See you there?

Last night at Hot Docs I saw The Cove. The Cove is a movie about the slaughter of 23,000 dolphins a year in a small town in Japan. It’s very difficult to watch and it is superb. Review will be up tomorrow.

What happened??!?!?! I know I said yesterday that I didn’t have time to watch TV right now, and that’s still true. But as I was getting ready to go out to see Grandmother’s Flower I had the TV on in the background and, I don’t know about you, but it looked a heck of a lot like Scrubs is over. But then my husband said he read an article that says it’s not. I wasn’t ready for Scrubs to be over. And it looked like Zach Braff finally got his acting skills back. This makes me one sad panda.

Hot Docs coverage is squeaking its way out. Saw Grandmother’s Flower last night, as noted above. Both Old Partner and Grandmother’s Flower have left me kind of spinning my wheels struggling for the right words to say about them. They’re both incredible, but they leave me speechless. No jokes please.

I’ve done it! I’ve posted all but one of my Q&As! About Face and Action Boys went up last night. Check them out, they’re pretty awesome.

As Star Trek noses ever closer, I am glad for this festival even more. I have no time to read the interwebs and absolutely no time to watch television, so I’m still completely spoiler free! Forgive me for taking my time with the Wolverine review. It’s very busy and I want to get it just right, especially since I think I’m in the minority of people who liked it. Although a buddy of mine put it best when he said that people don’t like or dislike it, they’re just viciously indifferent and that’s worse than almost anything. Can’t wait for Friday!

Last night I had the most wonderful experience. I went to see a movie called About Face: The Story of Gwendellin Bradshaw and what an incredible movie that is. My review won’t be up until later today, so please do check back.

I posted the Q&A for Best Worst Movie today. Check it out, those guys are awesome. More Q&As are coming, they just take forever to upload and are spread over both my computers right now, but I’m working on it. Trust.

May the FOURTH be with you today, right? Snort. Good Monday morning to you all film fans. I had an amazing weekend at Hot Docs and am feverishly trying to add more screenings, which will only result in less sleep, but more happiness. I think that’s a good compromise.

I’m doing my coverage a little bit differently this time and posting my reviews separate from my Q&A footage. I’ll give updates when the footage is up. If you live in the Toronto area and can get here, you should. Hot Docs is an amazing festival filled with brilliant people and filmmakers. Trust me, there’s something for everyone.

Saw Wolverine this weekend and really liked it. I think that people don’t quite know what they’re in for but I think if they can open their minds they’ll see this was a nearly perfect comic book movie. Except for those effects. Also, posted up the Terminator footage from Friday this weekend. Pretty awesome.
