What’s a ‘List of 10′?

The List

Basically, and I know this might seem simple, but it’s a list of 10 Movies you think other people should see before they die. Better yet, look at it this way: Imagine you meet someone who has never experienced film before. What 10 Movies would you show them?

The Factors

It’s a tough question and there’s a lot of things to factor in. Is it your own personal experience of a film that makes it great? It is the filmmaking? Is what a film can show us about ourselves? Is it the spectalce of a particular film? Is it the story? It could be so many things.

It’s Personal

Your list is personal, not meant to be a simple “top 10″ list or a “best of”. Those have all been done. Movies that end up on lists tend to have a more visceral response from the viewer and are a more personal experience of the film. They may not be your favorite movies either, they may simply be a movies that are worth sharing, even if your favorite movie is something you’d only share with your best friends.

List Specific

Sometimes one list just isn’t enough. While I have my own list of 10 Movies I think everyone else should see before they die, I also have some lists that comes from a specific genre or catergory. Maybe you have 10 horror movies that you would recommend other people see or 10 Christmas movies, or 10 Canadian movies. List Specific is the category under which I put my “other” lists.
